This morning Elfie prentended he was a super hero and played in Batman's house. He brought little Avenger men for Zach to play with.
It seems we only get the camera out on holidays and "big" occasions. My goal for 2011 is to take a picture each day of the normal everyday moments that make us a family. This blog is to keep the images together so one day Zach can enjoy them.

Monday Elfie set up a photo booth for us with Christmas props! He also brought Zach a camera key chain that flashes and makes a shutter sound. We had fun being silly!

Saturday was a giving task from Elfie. Zach was to pick out and buy a toy and donate it. He did a great job and never once asked to keep it. I tried to encourage him to buy a girl toy but he would have none of that!

Friday morning Elfie was sitting on top of our wall with a gift bag for Zach. Inside was a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle flashlight and news that we were going to a Candy Cane Flashlight Hunt in Urbandale that night. We had fun at the candy cane hunt. It was too dark and Zach was running around too fast to get any pictures outside. After the hunt we came in, had hot chocolate, did a craft, and met Santa.

This morning we found Elfie hanging from some candy canes with a Santa jump rope. Zach's idea of jump roping was to hold the jump rope while he jumped off a couple of the stairs. He also thought it would be good for tying up Uncle Tony and taking him to jail when they play Super Heros. Boys can truly make any toy into a weapon!

Zach loves to help in the kitchen. He can almost entirely make brownies all by himself. Elfie had him use his brownie-baking talent to thank the fire fighters today. We stopped at the Fire Station at 7:30pm. We didn't know if they had open hours or how it all worked. It just so happened the firemen were doing some training so we were met by the Fire Marshall & a fire fighter in the lobby. I brought my camera but I forgot to take any pictures. I enjoyed every second of my Little Man walking up to them and telling them "Thank you for all you do!" They shook his hand and fussed over the brownies telling Zach they would be gone in 2 minutes. We all left with happy hearts! Good work Elfie!

At Zach's preschool they have "centers", or areas of play. One popular center is the house center. About 6 weeks ago they changed the house center to a pizza shop. There is a table, menu, cash register, oven, and wood pieces to make different kinds of pizza. The kids take turns being the cook, waiter, or diner. Zach LOVED the pizza center. This week they turned the pizza center into an elf center. There are boxes, ribbons, bows, and wrapping paper for the kids to play with. This is also a BIG hit with Zach. Elfie must have been practicing getting presents ready for Christmas too because this morning we found him stuck in a gift bag!
December 10th
Who would have guessed that Elfie likes Spiderman just like Zach? This morning we found him coloring a picture under the Christmas tree.
December 9th
Zach found Elfie reading Christmas books to all of his stuffed friends this morning. He sat right down and "listened" to the story too! We also decorated the gingerbread house today. Zach really got into it and did a great job.
December 8th
This morning Elfie put antlers on some of Zach's monster trucks and turned them into reindeer pulling his sleigh. He also brought a ring toss game you wear on your head and another giving task for Zach. He was to donate treats to the Animal Rescue League.
December 7th
While we were sleeping, Elfie snuck into bed and stamped Zach's face with Elf stampers! Elfie must have a hard time seeing in the dark because all the stamps were upside down, but Zach didn't seem to mind! :) He also left a Grinch hooded towel and a slide whistle. Happy Friday!
December 6th - Evening
Tonight we went to Jolly in the Junction at Valley Junction. We got to see reindeer and Santa and Zach got the coolest balloon hat (Rudolph). The highlight had to be seeing Grandma Bailey, Jenny, & Aunt Nancy and getting cookies!
