May 31st

Saturday morning we woke up in Omaha & headed to the zoo.  It was hot & muggy but didn't rain (did I mention HOT?!?).  The little boys all had a blast checking out the animals (and ice cream) and walking around.  Around mid-afternoon they were just done...which wasn't so bad because most of the adults were getting that way too!  It was a great mini-trip away!

Friday afternoon we headed to Omaha with Craig & Peggy, Randy & Jenny, & Noah & Memphis.  We stayed the night in a hotel.  The boys had a blast swimming together.  Instead of dragging them out of the pool and back into the car, we ordered pizza and ate poolside.  It was a great relaxing night watching cousins have fun.

For Chris' birthday this year, we got him a straight edge shave & a shaving class at The Groom Room in Ames.  He has really enjoyed learning about new products & techniques.  Tonight he shared some tips with Zach.  Watching my boys bond over whiskers is pretty priceless!

(There isn't actually a razor blade in Zach's shaver...it's just a handle)

Today is Zach's last day of preschool.  He has learned so much and blossomed even more this year.  While the end of the school year is always sad, not having to get him to and from Ankeny in the middle of the day 4 days a week while working full time is a cause for celebration!!  Thank you to everyone to helped with transportation this year!  We could not have done it without your help!

He is wearing a special t-shirt they designed and made at school last week just for the last day of school.

We spent Memorial Day at the farm riding 4 wheelers, chasing bugs & baby kittens, climbing fences, and visiting with Great Grandma Huntrods & Uncle David.  Zach is really turning into a farm boy and was covered in dirt and sweat by the time we left.  See that little window at the top of the corn crib in the picture below?  Zach faced his fears (his words, not mine) and climbed a VERY steep and scary ladder to get to the top of that building and peek out that window.  He was so proud of himself that is almost made my fear standing at the bottom watching him worth it...almost!  Happy Memorial Day!

May 24th

Saturday while Chris was teaching a motorcycle class, Zach & I headed to the lake for some boating with Mimi, Papa, & Gracie.  It was a beautiful day.  Zach wanted to build a sand castle so we spent some time on the beach and in the (cold!) water.  The highlight of the afternoon had to be finding a large dead catfish floating in the water with another big fish stuck in his mouth.  The Huntrods (and little Palmer) like poking dead stuff with a stick, haha!

Our baby boy is now a Preschool graduate!

Friday they had a Spring Sing & Graduation at the school.  The kids sang & danced 3 songs and got diplomas and had a great time.  We have been so impressed with the Ankeny Schools so far and Zach has LOVED going.  I sure hope that love of learning continues.  I thought I might be sad at graduation but I couldn't help but smile non-stop at the cuteness overload!

Congratulations handsome!

Saturday was Movie Night at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames.  They showed the Disney movie Frozen and it was packed!  We had a great time watching the movie and listening to a stadium full of kids belt out all of the songs.  I was super surprised at how many of the words even Zach knew!

May 14th

Wednesday night was the first 2nd Ave Bike Night of the summer at Harley/Smokey D's.  Zach & Chris headed up for about an hour and had a great time.  Chris got Zach a new motorcycle mesh coat so they had to try it out.  He looks pretty handsome to me!

Nothing like a Sunday morning lap full of love...

A boy and his dog...doesn't get much cuter than that.

May 4th

Zach has become obsessed with WWE wrestling in the past couple of months.  It is quite odd since Chris and I both pretty much hate it.  He happened to see it on tv in a hotel back in February when we went to Minneapolis.  Ever since then he has been hooked and obsessed with John Cena.  He can sit for an hour playing with his figures and creating matches.  I guess it's better than playing on the tablet!

May 3rd

Zach is playing tee ball in Ankeny this Spring/Summer.  His first game was Saturday.  His team is the Royals and he is having a great time.  They play at the Prairie Ridge Sports Complex on the north side of Ankeny.
