October 31st

If Halloween was an Olympic event, I am pretty sure we would win the Gold.  We finished off the holiday trick-or-treating with Noah & Memphis at Great Grandma Palmers with Grandma & Papa.

The boys were excited to be dressed up together.

Tony  joined into the fun too.

Today Randy and Chris went on a motorcycle ride with Joe to the Community Orchard in Fort Dodge.  Jenny and Memphis rode with Zach and I in the car.  Both boys did great and we had an enjoyable trip, which is always a gamble with 2 little ones!

Memphis is getting so animated and full of smiles.  3 months old is so fun!

I love this face.  Who knew a baby could say OMG with their eyes!

We got home in time to rest for a bit, have a snack, and get ready to trick-or-treat.  Our plan was to hit up just a few neighbors and then drive to family.  Zach did so well walking around that we did a couple of blocks.

Things I never want to forget about Zach's first official neighborhood trick-or-treating:
  • The neighbors across the street asked Zach who he was for Halloween.  He said "Me Zach Palmer."  When the neighbor laughed and he realized that isn't what she was asking, he proudly said "No, me SUPERMAN!"  I love the innocence of being 2.
  • The sight of my 2 boys walking down the street hand-in-hand with their matching red capes blowing in the wind.  I felt like the luckiest gal in the world that they were both mine.
  • We have been telling Zach for weeks that when you trick-or-treat, you either say Happy Halloween or Trick-or-Treat since he is too young for a joke.  Apparently we forgot to tell him about timing because he would walk up to a door, knock, and then yell TRICK OR TREAT before anyone even answered.
  • Instead of saying Thank You, sometimes he would forget and tell the people You're Welcome.  Other times after he got back on the sidewalk, he would remember he forgot to say Thank You and would run back to the door, knock, and yell Thank You.
  • One house had a Cyclone yard ornament on the path to the door.  He walked up to the lady on the porch and said "We will fight fight fight for Iowa State" completely unrehearsed.  Chris and I almost died of laughter.  That is the start of the Iowa State Fight Song he has been learning.
Once we were done in our neighborhood, we stopped at Joe's house.

And then Uncle Kyle & Aunt Amber's

And then to Mimi & Papa's

Superman developed an identity crisis (Batman mask)

And just like that, trick-or-treating 2011 was over.  Zach and Mimi moved on to picking out Christmas presents!

He could pedal down the drive way, but walked the bike back up, haha.

Saturday night was Trunk or Treat at Grandma Bailey's church.  Grandma & Papa met us there to watch Superman have some fun.

Tonight was the Huntrod family annual Jack-Off (Jack-o-lantern Carve Off).

Chris was dressed for the occasion with a new Halloween shirt Joe bought him.  (They shop for each other now...how cute?!?!)

Zach and Papa played dress up too...but the scary kind!

Mimi's little stud muffin

Zach's wasn't so sure about pumpkin guts at first.

But soon warmed up to the fun and dug right in.
