Saturday night we went to the Good Guys fireworks at the fairgrounds.  Mimi & Papa went too and so did Grandma...although I got no pictures of anyone but Zach.  He had fun with his first ever sparklers, and standing in Mimi's moon roof!

Sunday Zach & I went boating with my family while Chris taught a motorcycle class at Big Barn.  Zach is getting braver and braver and this week conquered running and jumping off the boat into the deep water.  He had so much fun and wanted to do it over and over and over...

June 23rd

Saturday was Collins Day.  We went to the parade in the morning and Zach sat on tractors, played with animals in the petting zoo, ate lunch, bounced in the bounce house, got balloon swords, and had fun with family.  The highlight for me was the children's tractor pull.  My son is the 2012 Collins Days Tractor Pull Champion for 3 and under!  He pulled 11 feet and got a trophy.  He was so proud of himself, and I couldn't stop smiling!  I love living in Iowa!

Another hot day called for another day of swimming...this time at Papa & Grandma's pool!

How does Zach beat the heat on 95 degree days...naked deck swimming of course!

We had a great Father's Day.  We started the morning off by stopping by Craig & Peggy's to wish Craig a Happy Father's Day.  We had officially celebrated with them Saturday night at dinner.  Nothing says "I love you Dad" like steak!  After that we headed to brunch at the Garden Grill in Johnston.  The food was amazing and it was nice to spend some time just the 3 of us.  After we were stuffed, we headed to the lake with my parents.  The weather was beautiful and it was so relaxing on the water.  Zach & Mimi had a sand fight.  I am not sure who won!

My favorite moment of the day was hearing Chris check on a sleeping Zach before he came to bed.  I heard Chris whisper "thanks for making me a daddy" as he kissed him goodnight.  I love those two and the tight bond they have.

Thanks for being such an amazing dad & husband Chris.  That little boy thinks you are stronger than Superman, faster than The Flash, and cooler than Captain America...and that is saying a lot!

June 17th - Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to our amazing dads!  We love you VERY much and hope you had a very special day!

Saturday was a busy day for our family.  We started out bright and early at the downtown Farmer's Market in Des Moines.  We enjoyed some fresh produce and cookies and just being together outside.

We stopped in Altoona on our way home to check out a new water fountain my parents had discovered while on a walk.  Zach loved running through the dancing water.

In the afternoon, Chris picked up a four-wheeler from his cousin.  Chris saw online that he was selling it.  Chris put in an offer and surprisingly it was accepted.  We had fun driving it around the yard and can't wait to get to the open spaces of the farm to really try it out!

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...it's learning to dance in the rain.

Friday when we got home from work & daycare it was raining pretty hard.  It wasn't thundering or lightning and was still warm, so we decided to play in the rain.  We grabbed some umbrellas and ended up heading to the pond a block away from our house.  We caught crawdads & frogs and jumped in puddles.  It was a great start to the weekend!

Zach loves to pick up our little camera and take pictures around the house.  He knows how to turn it on, how to take a picture, and how to see the picture.  Everytime I clean off the camera card I am surprised by his pictures.  Today's post is brought to you by Zach.

I am not exactly sure what he was aiming at here.

I see where he gets the cheesy smile.  Yikes!

I walked outside tonight and saw Chris and Zach laying on the trampoline looking at the sky talking about their days.  It was adorable.  5 minutes later they were chasing each other and playing Avengers with Tony.  That's my boys...rough & tough yet sweet as can be.  Love them.
