January 27th

Sunday was the Palmer's turn to celebrate our birthday boy.  Noah, Memphis, & Zach had a great time playing and got along so well.  Peggy made the best crab ragoons ever and Nancy's special cookies were a big hit with the little boys!  Thanks for everyone for making my boy feel like the most special 4 year old ever!

January 26th - Party

We are so blessed to have most of our family within a 30 minute drive.  When it comes to party planning though it makes things 10 times harder.  2 big close-knit families don't fit in our house at one time so this year we decided on 2 birthday parties, one Saturday night and one Sunday night.

Saturday night it was the Huntrods party.  Zach had a great time playing with everyone.  Since he is the only kid on that side, he gets A LOT of attention and he loves it!  Thanks to everyone for coming out and celebrating our boy!

As a parent, my number one job is to make my kid feel loved & special.  I want him to know that he is enough.  I want him to know there is nothing he can do to make me love him any more or less...that he is perfect just the way he is.  I want him to have wonderful memories of laughter and love and silly dance parties in the living room when he grows up.  He is growing up and while it is so exciting watching him learn new skills and become more independent, it breaks my heart.  My baby is 4 and 4 seems SO MUCH older than 3 to me.  I seriously can't even remember my life without him yet it seems like just yesterday we were headed to the hospital for him to be born.  A blink of the eye and he is 4...but I digress.

Today my baby turned 4 and we celebrated it up big!  We started the morning off opening presents.  Then we met Grandma & Papa at Perkin's for a special birthday breakfast.  I took really cute pictures of them with Zach on his new camera, but apparently my husband didn't read the directions and they all disappeared.  :(

After breakfast we headed to Brenton Skating Plaza downtown.  Zach is OBSESSED with mascots and by some divine intervention they had scheduled a mascot skate on his birthday.  The boy was in heaven despite the FREEZING temperatures.  He had so much fun skating with Kyle & Amber & Daddy.

After skating we headed home to nap & get ready for a birthday party!

January 25th

Friday we got up, swam some more, and went home to get ready for the day.  We picked up treats from Nancy's, picked up Zach's birthday cake, and dropped cookies off at the NICU and with Dr.Irish.  We had a great time just being together and spent the afternoon playing.

January 24th

Chris and I took the Friday off before Zach's birthday to spend the day with him.  We decided to stay at the Ramada Inn on Merle Hay Thursday night because they have a water park.  We had a blast swimming and going down slides.  It was a great way to beat the winter blues and celebrate our Little Man!

January 13th

Saturday afternoon we went to the farm to celebrate my grandma's birthday.  Zach had fun building houses with his new Lincoln's Logs.

After the farm, we headed to Ames for the Jr. Cyclone Club's January birthday celebration.  We had so much fun cheering on the Cyclones to victory.  The highlight had to be when Cy sat down in Zach's seat for awhile!

January 7th

Zach is in the middle of a major Mommy attachment stage.  He wants me to play with him, me to get his snack, me to lay with him, etc.  It is exhausting on me and tough on Chris.  Monday night Chris needed to change the oil in his truck and Zach was more than eager to help.  This was just what Chris needed!  I adore watching these two work together!

January 5th

Tony's girlfriend Danica came down from Nothern Iowa this weekend.  I am not sure who was more excited to see her, Zach or Tony!
