Zach & I had a productive day Sunday! I cleaned out our closet and picked up the playroom so you can actually play in it again. We also saw Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 in 3D. Even Spot got glasses!
It seems we only get the camera out on holidays and "big" occasions. My goal for 2011 is to take a picture each day of the normal everyday moments that make us a family. This blog is to keep the images together so one day Zach can enjoy them.

If you come to one of Zach's soccer games, it won't take you long to realize he isn't exactly the most aggressive player on the team. He does great in practice, but in the games he just sort of stays back from most of the action. He runs and hustles and busts out some dance moves every once in awhile, but isn't in there fighting for the ball. After Saturday's game I was telling him how he needs to get in there and push and take the ball and kick it in the net. He looked at me with the most innocent of eyes and said "I should push the other kids down?!?" I tried to explain that he shouldn't push kids down or hurt anyone, but to not be afraid to bump into other kids to get the ball. He said "Mom, I will let the other kids fight for the ball and just kick it if it comes by me. It isn't worth fighting." It's hard to come up with an argument against that. I guess I will just cheer on my boys non-agressive loving ways as long as I can. At least he is having fun!

Today Chris & I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary with dinner at John & Nick's. We decided no gifts, no cards, no sappy displays of emotions...just dinner and us. He truly is my very best friend and marrying him was the best decision I ever made. Here's to 42 more! (When we first got married we both committed to only 50 years. We decided after 50 we would renegotiate!)

On a cold dreary Sunday, a bunch of the Hofer cousins & their kids got together to make apple cider with my Great Grandpa Hofer's press. We had quite the assembly line going and pumped out a TON of apple cider! Fall is in the air!

Saturday was a busy day! Zach & I started the morning off bright and early by eating breakfast at the Legion. It was delicious and we got to see lots of family. We then headed to Noah's football game in Altoona and saw his team score a big win. Apparently I was still asleep because I didn't take any pictures but Noah looked so cute in his uniform. Zach had his first soccer game at noon. He had a BIG cheering section and scored the first goal of the game. It was kind of a fluke but was adorable to watch. There was another game Saturday night but I refuse to discuss that one!

Wednesday night was the last Bike Night of the season at Big Barn Harley. The weather was perfect so we all decided to go. Zach got to ride in Joe's sidecar. I rode with Chris and even Tony took a bike. When Zach & Joe rode in, everyone watched. A couple of people even asked to take their pictures. Zach felt like a rockstar! The night ended with a BEAUTIFUL sunset.

Last week we took Zach out to get his annual back to school desk pictures. Getting a good smile out of him is getting harder and harder...but man is my boy handsome!

Sunday was the annual CAPOOT (Collins Area People on Old Tractors) ride. My dad and Chris had fun "playing farmer" and hanging out with family. Craig, Peggy, & Noah came out for the dinner and to see the tractors drive in so Noah got to enjoy a ride. Zach always has such a great time at the farm. I feel so blessed to get to spend time there too.
We missed 2011 because we were on vacation, but check out 2012 here: 2012

Saturday my dad turned the big 6-0! Zach made his famous brownies complete with frosting & half a container of sprinkles. Happy birthday Daddy/Papa! We love you!

Zach is playing Tiny Tots Indoor Soccer this Fall in Ankeny. His team is the Pirates and they will wear black. They practice for the first 15 minutes and then scrimmage the last 45 minutes every Saturday for 6 weeks. The games are at Parkview Middle School which is right on W 1st St in Ankeny, just a few blocks West of Ankeny Blvd (NE 14th). It should be pretty cute to watch!
